High-Value Delivery

Hand-Carried by a Professional Courier, Never a Gig Driver.

Some things you don't hand to whoever a delivery app sends. Your laptop, your electronics, your valuables ride with one courier from the moment we pick them up to the moment we hand them to the right person, checked by photo ID at the door, with the back of the ID scanned. Across Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Harford County.

A Delivery App

  • Whoever happens to be nearby takes your item
  • You find out who has it when they show up
  • Often batched with other orders along the way
  • Left at the door or with whoever answers

The Baltimore Courier Company

  • One professional courier, pickup to drop-off, no handoffs
  • Your courier's photo and car on your tracking page
  • Direct, point-to-point: nothing else rides along
  • Handed only to the named recipient, after a photo ID check and a scan of the back of the ID
  • Covered up to the value you declare at checkout, up to $5,000 through our online checkout. Call us for higher declared values.

How Every High-Value Run Works

  1. You Name the Recipient

When you book, you tell us exactly who should receive it, as their name appears on their photo ID, and how to reach them.

  2. Picked Up With Proof

The courier photographs the item and gets a printed name and signature from whoever releases it.

  3. Watch It Live

Your tracking page shows your courier, the car, and its live position on the map, with updates if the arrival time changes.

  4. ID Checked at the Door & Back of ID Scanned Upon Delivery

Before anything changes hands, the recipient's photo ID is checked against the name you gave us and scanned into the delivery record. We scan the barcode on the back of the ID, the same check a convenience store runs at the register.

  5. Signed, Photographed, Recorded

A signature, printed name, photo and GPS stamp close out the run, and your receipt shows all of it.

Questions

What Counts as a High-Value Delivery?

Anything small enough to ride in a car that you wouldn't hand to a stranger: laptops, tablets and phones, cameras and electronics, hard drives, signed originals, and personal items that matter to you. Packages up to 75 lb that fit in a sedan. At checkout, declare what it's worth: a declared value of $500 or more makes it a High-Value delivery, with the ID scan at the door.

Why Not Just Use a Delivery App?

With an app, you get whoever is nearby, and you won't know who has your item until they show up. With us, one professional courier carries it from pickup to drop-off with no handoffs, you see the courier's photo and car on your tracking page, and the recipient's photo ID is checked, with the barcode on the back scanned, before anything changes hands.

How Do You Make Sure the Right Person Gets It?

You name the recipient when you book. At the door, the courier checks their photo ID and scans the barcode on the back, the same check a convenience store runs at the register, then gets a printed name and signature, and takes a photo of the handoff. All of it is saved to your delivery record.

Can You Pick Up an Order From a Store for Me?

Yes. Book the run, then add our courier as the alternate pickup person on your order so the store will release it. We'll confirm the name to use. The order needs to be yours, or the recipient's, so the store and we can verify it.

How Much Does It Cost?

The same rates as every courier run: $49 covers the first 15 miles from our nearest dispatch point to your pickup and drop-off, then $1.75 a mile. No return trip is charged, and you see the exact price before you book. Coverage up to $100 is included; above that, coverage is $2 per $100 of declared value ($5 minimum), so a $1,200 laptop is $22.

Is My Item Insured?

Yes. The Baltimore Courier Company is commercially insured, and every run is documented with GPS, photos and signatures. Call us if you'd like to talk through an especially valuable item before you book. Every delivery is covered up to $100; declare a higher value at checkout to be covered up to that amount, up to $5,000 online. Worth more? Call before booking.

Send It With Someone You Can See & Trust.

Watch your courier's car move on a live Google map with real-time traffic, green for clear roads and red for slowdowns, from pickup to drop-off. Before they arrive, you'll see your courier's photo and the car they're driving. It's one professional courier, not a stranger from a delivery app, and photo ID is checked and scanned upon delivery, with the barcode on the back of the ID scanned just like a store checking ID at the register.

Unlike the national gig apps, we don't run a cheap background check on people we've never met. Every one of our couriers passes a full background check and a face-to-face interview, and if their character isn't right, we don't hire them.
